Journal of Stratification Economics (JSE) published by the University of California Press is dedicated to advancing the understanding of group-based inequality on a global scale from an interdisciplinary perspective with a primary emphasis on the fields of economics and sociology. JSE is committed to exploring the multifaceted dimensions of intergroup disparities, transcending conventional explanations that focus solely on cultural factors, personal deficiencies, or distortions in credit markets. By focusing on a diverse range of groups, including but not limited to those defined by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and phenotypical differences, the journal will shed light on the intricate mechanisms that perpetuate inequality while emphasizing the pivotal role of power dynamics.
The journal aims to foster rigorous academic discourse and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the field of stratification economics. We encourage submissions of both original empirical and theoretical work for review and possible publication in the first few issues of the journal.
